Variation 19

The last variation in the set is unique in its length (the final four bars repeat twice to add a sense of finality to the piece).

The alternation of a fast pattern employing repetition and octave displacement with a similar pattern in quarter notes suggests that the upper voices will be more active when the bass consists of longer durations and vice versa.

Now that we’ve looked at the entire set as Bass Variations complete your own set of Bass Variations. While nineteen variations might seem like a lot, try to have at least twelve.
