Now we can add some movement to the upper parts. We will use a simple diminution technique called Bariolage. Bariolage is originally a violin technique that can translate well to keyboard music.
What we will do is replace each of the harmonic intervals in the right hand with an a figure alternating the two pitches instead. For example:
Applying this technique to the rest of the realized prelude (from the previous section) results in a simple, yet fairly complete piece.
